Massage Therapy

What is Massage Therapy?

Performed by a licensed massage therapist, massage therapy involves using different pressures, movements and techniques to manipulate muscles and other soft tissues in the body. With a goal of slowing down your nervous system, massage therapy can be used to release stress and tension, provide relief from symptoms, heal injuries and support wellness.

What Are The Different Types?

Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is a whole-body therapeutic massage treatment that works the soft tissues and muscles to help restore health - creating a calming and balancing effect on the nervous system.

Sports Massage
Sports Massage is manual manipulation of the muscles geared specifically toward helping people who have physically demanding lifestyles and/or hobbies. This kind of therapeutic massage considers the impact of certain activities on specific joints, muscle groups, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissue.

Neuromuscular Massage
Neuromuscular Massage is a highly-specialized form of manual therapy that corrects pain and dysfunction by treating trigger points, muscle adhesions, and fascial (connective tissue) patterns.

Spa Massage
Spa Massage is a Swedish, Sports, or Neuromuscular Massage that includes Hot Stones, Hot Towels, Body Scrubs, Paraffin Wax Treatment, or Mud Treatment.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage centers on realigning the deeper layers of connective and muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the tense areas. It is particularly helpful for continually tight and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders.

Why Massage Therapy?

Most people know massage is good for easing those aching muscles, but there is so much more. In addition to easing muscle soreness, massage decreases cortisol levels in the body which can help decrease stress, anxiety and depression. Massage has also been shown to boost the immune system, improve sleep, and help with tension type headaches.
